Many people enjoy sports and physical activities and what helps them enjoy these activities more, is knowing that they are in a safe environment - often in a club or group where there is someone they can turn to for help should they need it. This could be the sports coach or activity leader/ instructor, a volunteer or a committee member or another participant at the club. All clubs and groups that organise activities have a duty of care to their participants - part of this duty is to help safeguard people from abuse and neglect.
