Thanks for clicking the link to apply to take part in this exciting challenge.

We just need a couple of minutes of your time to take some contact details and ask a couple of questions. This will enable Carol Lukins, programme coordinator, to contact you and discuss your involvement in the programme.

If your application is successful* you will be provided with:
12 x 45 minute training sessions with an experienced open water instructor at your chosen training venue (one session per week)
A free 3 month swimming pass to use during the period from 25th March to 30th June
One/two open water training sessions
Fast track physio therapy service and strength and conditioning classes by Allied Health Professionals (AHP)
Free wetsuit hire
Free entry to the Great East Swim

The programme is worth over £200 per person, but is available for a one off charge of £30 per person.

*Please ensure that you read the eligibility criteria prior to submitting your application. This project is targeted at individuals who are currently inactive (undertaking/or doing) less than 30 minutes of moderate/vigorous activity per week)

Moderate activity will raise your heart rate, and make you breathe faster and feel warmer. One way to tell if you're working at a moderate level is if you can still talk, but you can't sing the words to a song.
Vigorous activity makes you breathe hard and fast. If you're working at this level, you won't be able to say more than a few words without pausing for breath.

If you do not meet the criteria you can still take part in the Great East Swim by visiting the Great East Swim website    www.greatrun.org/great-swim/great-east-swim. Please note that the event does not include training.

Good luck and welcome to the start of your Great East Swim Journey.
