Great East Run

Welcome to the first ever Great East Run outreach programme, developed by Suffolk Sport and Suffolk County Council. The programme provides an opportunity for you and your friends/relatives to take part in a progressive programme of training and support to help you get physically active, with the goal of taking part in the inaugural Great East Run on Sunday 24^th September 2017, alongside an estimated 3,000 participants.

24 places (between the ages of 17 – 25 and 50 plus) are up for grabs for Suffolk residents who are inactive and/or living with a long term physical or mental health condition. Participants will receive an extensive programme of support with expert weekly coaching sessions developed by double Olympic long distance runner Paul Evans. Additionally to this participants can expect to receive the following over the course of 5 months to develop their stamina, fitness and confidence to take on the 13.1mile course:

• Weekly supported training sessions by two experienced local run coaches
• Exclusive discount on all running footwear and clothing at Coes of Ipswich
• Gait analysis and advice on the most appropriate footwear to suit your walking/running style
• Entry into the Great East Run on the 24th September 2017
• Fast track physiotherapy support
• Weekly strength and conditioning sessions to support your run training
• Diet and nutrition workshops
• Life coaching workshops

The programme is worth over £300 but costs just £30 to join. Places on the programme are limited to just 12 per age group and will be allocated on a first come first served basis to individuals meeting the entry criteria.
