Fit Villages

Find out more about Fit Villages in this video

Fit Villages brings people together through setting up physical activity sessions in rural communities.

Fit Villages is a popular, well established project run by Suffolk Sport across the county. The project is supported by Suffolk County Council and Sport England and is part of Suffolk's aim to be the Most Active County (MAC).

Through the project we help villages in rural locations to set up their own sport and physical activity programmes, using village facilities such as village halls, community centres or playing fields. Previous projects have included activities such as Pilates, Yoga, Tai Chi, Nordic Walking, Zumba, Beginners Running or Keep Fit.

As the project continues to grow we are always looking for new villages to get involved – would you like to see one of the above activities, or perhaps something new like Walking Football or Beginners Running come to your village?

New Activities launched

A recent countywide survey and focus groups with The Men's Shed Project has shown that there is an increasing demand for activities designed for older men to participate in. Fit Villages is responding to this, having found that self-led activities such as Table Tennis, Badminton and Bowls would be popular as well as Archery and Mature Bootcamps led by an instructor.

We are delighted to announce the launch of more activities suited to men across the county and are looking for villages to sign up over the next year. We will also be continuing to support our usual mixed sessions alongside this new initiative.
