An Overview of Karate

Karate is a martial art developed on the Ryukyu Islands in what is now Okinawa, Japan. Karate is predominantly a striking art using punching, kicking, knee strikes, elbow strikes and open hand techniques. Karate can be practiced as an art, sport, or as self defense training. Karate training is commonly divided into kihon (basics or fundamentals), kata (forms), and kumite (sparring).

Senshuken Shotokan karate club

This is a club affiliated to the KUGB focusing on bringing Japanese martial arts, of a high standard, to all those who wish to learn and develop the art. Suitable for all ages and abilities as well as beginners and the more advanced.

Adastral Park Karate Club

The Adastral Park Karate Club is a friendly family oriented club, located on the BT Adastral Park site. Children from ages 6 upwards are welcome to start training and parents are welcome to come along and join in with the kids too.
