North Suffolk School Games - U14 Golf

In Lowestoft the newly named North Suffolk School Games teamed up with local golf club Rookery Park to deliver a new golf project called U14 Golf – Super Sixes by accessing £500 from the Golf Roots foundation.
This project enabled 24 High school students who have not played golf before to access 4 hours of professional coaching from club pro Martin Elsworthy and compete in team competition afterwards.
Alongside this coaching funding from Lowestoft SGO Jeffrey Hoey allowed 10 Sport Leader from Benjamin Britten high school to complete a Golf Activators Award, allowing them to officiate the Super Sixes competition which took place on Wednesday 20th June.
This competition was made up of teams from East Point Academy, Sir John Leman High school, Pakefield High school, Denes High school and Benjamin Britten High school.
The standard has very high and lead to a close finish, with Pakefield just taking the 1st spot and securing a place in the next round at Stowmarket golf club in the first ever School Games Level 3 showcase event on 6th July.
Overall this project has open up a great opportunity to bring a few new young players into the game of golf, and following the great partnership with Rookery Park they have offered every competitor from the super sixes will be able to play their par 3 course for just £2 over the summer
