The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games
The London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games offer a unique, once in a generation opportunity to the country, and to Suffolk. The inspiring sporting and cultural events of the Games open up a legacy of social, economic and sporting benefits to the County, but these will only be realised if Suffolk acts now.
The Suffolk Partnership Group has brought together business, sport, culture, tourism and voluntary organisations with local authorities to maximise these potential benefits, highlighted in the Regional Economic Impact Study as potentially equal to £66m in financial terms, and to determine our priorities and aims through a Suffolk Vision and Business Plan.
The Suffolk Vision highlights our aims to achieve increased participation in sport and volunteering, growth in tourism and business investment, increase skills and further develop cultural activities.
The Suffolk Partnership for the London 2012 Games intends to deliver on these key aims through working with partner organisations, who it is hoped will endorse the Business Plan and consider how best to integrate these ambitions within their priorities and organisational plans.
The Plan represents the first element in Suffolk’s threestage process to maximise the benefits of the Games. It describes the strategic objectives that underpin Suffolk’s approach and highlights the actions partners will take to ensure that the legacy and inspiration of the 2012 Games is felt across the County, well into the future.
