This training resource is designed to provide club Welfare Officers with the tools that will support you and your club to safeguard and protect children. You have a vital role as the club welfare officer in supporting your club to achieve these safeguarding aims.

Safeguarding and Protecting Children (10th May 2017)

Date: Wed, 10 May 2017 (18:30 - 21:30)

Location: King Edward VI School, Grove Road, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 3BH

A required course for all Suffolk Sport topcoaches but is open to all. This workshop covers protecting yourself and the young people you work with by following good practice. Learn to recognise signs of abuse and what to do if you have concerns. This course forms part of the minimum standards for coaches.

Emergency First Aid (23rd May 2017)

Date: Tue, 23 May 2017 (18:30 - 21:30)

Location: University of Suffolk, Waterfront Building, Neptune Quay,, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP4 1QJ

A required course to become a Suffolk Sport topcoach but is open to all. This workshop is a basic first aid course. It will provide you with knowledge of how to assess an incident, and what to do next, the latest resuscitation techniques and how to deal with sprains and strains.

Safeguarding and Protecting Children (13th July 2017)

Location: Hadleigh Pool and Leisure, Stonehouse Road, Hadleigh, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP7 5BH

A required course for all Suffolk Sport topcoaches but is open to all. This workshop covers protecting yourself and the young people you work with by following good practice. To become a topcoach you must attend a Free topcoach induction, which will also be a chance for you to meet members of the Suffolk Sport team and learn more about how Suffolk Sport can support your development.

This years academy members have now been selected.

The cost of courses is often cited as one of the barriers to coaches obtaining the next coaching qualification level. To support coaches negate this, various levels and types of funding are available for application by clubs and coaches. Find out more here.
