The St Edmundsbury Sailing and Canoeing Association will be holding a Club Open Day, with sailing taster sessions, at Lackford Lake, five miles NW of Bury St Edmunds, on Sunday, 21 May 2017 from 10.30am-4pm. The event forms part of the RYA's (Royal Yachting Association) 'Push the Boat Out' initiative to encourage everyone to get out on the water and celebrate a national week of sailing.

Weather permitting, sailing taster sessions and joy rides will be run on an as available basis. Buoyancy aids will be provided but please bring soft soled shoes, a towel and a change of clothes if you want to sail - as you may get wet! Unfortunately, we will not be able to take out children under 7 years old. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.Registration and disclaimer forms will need to be completed before going afloat.

SESCA is a small, family orientated club which runs on-water events from the last weekend in March until early November. The Club organises dinghy racing on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays and Thursday evening pursuit races throughout the summer. The Club also runs RYA sailing courses and coaching sessions for members. A fleet of Club boats is available for hire to members, so it is not necessary to own your own boat if you want to sail.

Whether you are interested in dinghy sailing (pottering or racing), canoeing, windsurfing or just like the great outdoors, you are most welcome to visit the Club to see what we have to offer. Unfortunately no dogs are permitted on the site, as the Club is located in a Nature Reserve.

Representatives of other organisations that sail at the Club, including the Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Mildenhall Sea Cadets; YPA (Young People Afloat); Suffolk Scouts and WASH Sailability will be on hand to answer questions.
