NO SAILING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Suffolk Sport have joined forces with the RYA to offer Suffolk-wide businesses a programme of sailing activity culminating in an inter-workplace regatta competition. We are looking for up to four teams of three people per organisation to sign-up to a 6 week sailing programme.

Training sessions

During these sessions experienced RYA Instructors will coach individuals to sail their own boat and develop basic sailing skills to the point where they can rig the boat, sail around and get back to shore with confidence. In addition participants will be taught basic racing techniques to enable the teams to compete in the Workplace Challenge regatta in June. The regatta will be a fun event with the workplace sailing teams racing against one another, the winning team being crowned Suffolk Workplace Challenge regatta champions.

Participants will be sailing small dinghies and will need a basic degree of physical fitness and agility, water confidence is required, but you do not need to be able to swim and do not need any prior sailing experience. All sessions will be safe and enjoyable, challenging and rewarding. Each person will be supplied with all necessary safety equipment and a boat. Participants should bring suitable footwear, clothing, towel and change of clothes.

The sailing programmes will be delivered at 2 different RYA Recognised Training Centres to enable you to sign up to the venue nearest you.

Regatta Information:

  • The final regatta will take place on Saturday 24th June from 09:30 - 14:30 and will include BBQ Lunch and Prize giving.

Cost:

  • This programme is being heavily subsidized by the RYA and Suffolk Sport, so participants/workplaces will only have to pay £60 per person (RRP £150 pp) which covers the 6 week learn to sail programme (including boats and equipment) and the regatta (including lunch and prizegiving).

Clearly this is an OPPORTUNITY NOT TO BE MISSED, so get your team of 3 together and sign up today! (places are on a first come first served basis and are only confirmed once payment has been received)
