Foundation Degree
in
Football Development and
Coaching

University Campus Suffolk Lowestoft, at the
site of Lowestoft College, is launching a brand new Fda/BA degree
programme in Football Development and Coaching for September 2008.
The course will enable prospective students with a passion for
football to turn that into a successful and rewarding career. It
aims to attract both school leavers and those already working in
the industry as coaches, for example, who wish to obtain a degree
qualification. The course will be taught by academic staff with
significant industry experience in football and sport more
generally, supported by guest speakers from local and regional
football/sport organizations. Students can undertake FA awards at
Level 1-2, as well as have opportunities to undertake refereeing
and disability football awards.
In addition, there are work-based placements in the
community, making a difference to youngsters' lives, working in
schools or on special football development projects. Students will
be expected to develop these experiences further, ideally with a
range of disadvantaged or under-represented groups in society. The
course modules include football development, football in society,
research methods, fitness for football, introduction to coaching,
football coaching for special populations, strategic football
development, contemporary issues in football and sports marketing.
With relevant work experience, a degree course designed by
academics with the support of local and regional football and sport
organizations, added-value coaching awards and a supportive
learning environment, you will be ideally prepared for a career in
the vibrant and exciting world of football.
The course begins in September 2008 and is a
two year foundation degree with an optional BA third year 'top up'
allowing you to graduate with a full honours degree and is
available on the UCAS website for applications. For further
