ACTIVE PEOPLE SURVEY

The Active People Survey results were published in October 2006. It is the largest survey of it's kind ever undertaken and provided some interesting results which varied across Suffolk.

In terms of participation Suffolk was slightly lower than the national average with just 19.8% of the population taking part in regular exercise (3x30mins a week).

Perhaps a more worrying statistic is that approx. 50% of people in Suffolk still did no exercise at all, slightly above the national average.

The findings of this survey will provide the evidence base needed for Community Sport Networks to deliver on increasing participation by 1% year on year.

Analysis of the results is on-going and profiles and maps can be found by clicking on the area name your interested in.

The Survey is being repeated starting this October and for the first time will provide sports & health professionals with the evidence they need to plan, implement and monitor interventions.

As well as participation, the survey also looked at volunteering; club membership; receiving coaching / tuition; competition and satisfaction with local sports provision.
