Debenham Ladies Badminton Group
New Members wanted Debenham Ladies Badminton Group has just been successful in securing £500 funding through Mid Suffolk District Council to continue as the group grows in numbers Following various research highlighting the lack of women and girls in sport and reports from badminton clubs and leagues of the difficulties finding ladies for teams, Suffolks Badminton Development Officer, Elaine Burrows, set up a small pilot project with Debenham Leisure Centre to start a ladies only coached badminton session on a Tuesday morning.

Joann Hughes, a professional badminton coach has provided the coaching expertise and sees improvement in all players. Some members have had previous experience from many years ago whilst others are new to the game.

New members can be assured of a friendly welcome so come along and give it a try, said Elaine Burrows, herself a member of this newly formed Group. We meet on a Tuesday morning from 10.45 am until 11.45 am at Debenham Leisure Centre, Debenham and the cost is £3-00 per session. Equipment and refreshments are provided free of charge.

If transport is a problem please contact me and Ill try and help. Badminton is such an inclusive sport for all ages that can be played within a club setting, or with friends in the garden.

It is hoped that Debenham Ladies Badminton Group will gain new members and grow into a strong club over the coming months.
